Cora get pierced
Sooo it seems we have a super brave six year old...aka Cora Elizabeth Hektoen
Really this is no surprise to either her father or I, but I feel compelled to brag about the little whip for a second or three. See, she has been wanting to get her ears pierced for some time now, but we hadn't found the right moment...until this past weekend.
Leading up to the big P-piercing if you will, we had talked and talked and talked some more about it...even went as far as giving her earrings that we hand picked and purchased this past summer from GERMANY. Seriously how cool is that?!? It was one of the highlights of her Christmas gifts, opening up the package of earrings that her dad had brought home from Germany.
Well, the whirlwind of Christmas had died down and we made a promise to Cora a week ago "next weekend we will go get your ears pierced, we promise." I am a sorry sap for her sad eyes and when the weekend rolled around, she wasn't about to let us forget our promise to her...so we ponied up and made a phone call to Omega Red Tattoo and Piercing in Cedar Falls and as luck would have it, they could fit us in...
When we arrived with all three kids in tow, it was definitely not your average "trip to Fareway" family adventure. There was background noise of constant buzzing, and a few decorated folks if you will that we coming in and going. Surprisingly my kids didn't say anything bizarre or gawk too long, I was completely impressed.
Cora quickly picked out her opal style earrings, one in a pink shade and naturally the other was a different shade in purple and we waited. After what seemed like hours to a six year old it was show time and we headed back to a separate room where the piercing occurred.
Our piercer, whom I didn't catch his name was AMAZING. He was so kind with Cora, and even told her that she was the best little kid he had ever had. If he was lying, even I was fooled because he was very gentle and empathetic with her.
Below are a few of the shots from our adventure...It panged me to not hug her 100% of the time while I was taking pics, but luckily that's where her loving Pappa came in.
